Tried Fukuoka’s Local Specialty at “Ganso Motsunabe Rakutenti Nishinakasu” | Solo Hakata Trip in My 30s

During my solo trip to Fukuoka, I visited “Ganso Motsunabe Rakutenti Nishinakasu.”

It is a very popular restaurant where you can enjoy Fukuoka’s local specialty, motsunabe (offal hot pot).

There is a counter, so it is easy to drop in even if you are dining alone.

However, it is a well-known spot in Fukuoka, so if you definitely want to eat here, I recommend making a reservation!

Tried Fukuoka’s Local Specialty at “Ganso Motsunabe Rakutenti Nishinakasu”!

I headed to “Ganso Motsunabe Rakutenti Nishinakasu”, located along Kokutai Road in Nishinakasu.

Here is the location of “Ganso Motsunabe Rakutenti Nishinakasu”

It is about a 5-minute walk from Tenjin-Minami Station.

Here is what the outside of the restaurant looks like

The restaurant is on the second floor, so it is a little hard to notice, but the red signboard is your landmark!

You go up to the second floor from here.

Here is the inside of the restaurant

I visited on a Sunday around 7:30 p.m., and it was already quite lively!

There is just something extra delicious about eating hot pot while sitting on tatami.

Perfect even if you’re by yourself!

There is a counter, so you will not feel awkward even when dining solo.

Here is the menu

The “Motsunabe Full Course” sounded tempting, but since I was alone, I went with a single motsunabe order plus Hakata silken tofu.

The back of the menu explains “How to Make Motsunabe.”

That said, I still was not confident, so I asked the staff to help.

The staff were all very friendly!

Less than five minutes after ordering, my beer and motsunabe arrived!

I sipped my beer while waiting for the motsunabe to finish cooking.

The vegetables started to wilt nicely.

For the record, adding the tofu at this stage was a mistake (T_T)

Once everything is stirred, it looks like this!

This is the timing when you should actually add the tofu.

I started eating before the offal got overcooked.

The chewy offal and the garlicky broth are absolutely addictive!

The garlic chives and cabbage go down so easily too.

Time for a second beer

The ice-cold glass was perfection.

I could not resist adding champon noodles!

You just know this is going to be amazing (*^▽^*).

The rich broth clings perfectly to the thick noodles, making it the ideal way to finish the meal.

A sprinkle of motsunabe spice for a flavour twist!

Even though it was already the second half of the meal, the extra kick made me want to keep eating.

Thank you for the meal!

That was one incredible bowl of motsunabe.

It is a popular restaurant, so if you really want to eat here, make sure to book in advance!

You can even make same-day reservations via Tabelog or Hot Pepper Gourmet.
