Visiting the Izakaya “Bijashi” on Irabu Island 【Irabu Island Trip with Our 2-Year-Old】

During a family trip to Irabu Island, we visited the izakaya “Bijashi”!

It is a local izakaya on Irabu Island that many of the residents visit regularly.

You can enjoy drinks together with fresh seafood dishes and plates made with local island vegetables!

It is in the same direction as Shiratori-zaki, so I also recommend stopping by on your way back after watching the sunset there!

Visiting the izakaya “Bijashi” on Irabu Island

We went to the izakaya “Bijashi” on Irabu Island.

Here’s where “Bijashi” is located

It is about a 10-minute drive from the Irabu Ohashi Bridge.

Here are some photos of the restaurant

There is also parking available (for two cars).

Here’s what it looks like inside

You can relax on the tatami seating.

Here’s the drinks menu

Here’s the food menu

Here are some of the recommended dishes

First up: Orion draft beer

Cheers to a great day! 🍺

For the second round, we had the awamori “Ryukyu Ocho”

It has very little harshness and is easy to drink (so be careful not to overdo it).

Here is the sashimi platter

So fresh and delicious!

The miibai (local grouper) in particular was outstanding!

The bonito was beautifully glossy as well!

This is the garlic fried rice

You can really taste the garlic, yet the flavour is not too heavy!

Highly recommended if you are in the mood for a rice dish.

This is the island shallot tempura

Light and easy to eat!

This is the butter-grilled scallops

Despite being cooked in butter, it is not overly greasy, which is great!

The scallops are plump and juicy, and they go perfectly with awamori. 🍶

It is in the same direction as Shiratori-zaki, so I also recommend stopping by on your way back after watching the sunset there!

Who I’d recommend this for

  • You want to visit a local izakaya on Irabu Island
  • You want to enjoy drinks with fresh seafood dishes

That’s all for now.
